Our Story
How It All Began
The idea for Thriving Communities was born from a simple belief: Every community builder has a story worth sharing, and every story has lessons that can inspire others. For host Deepak Rai, community building became deeply personal while volunteering to reconnect and engage more than 20,000 alumni of Sri Balaji University, Pune. What began as an effort to give back to his alma mater quickly became a journey of understanding how communities are created, nurtured, and sustained. Along the way, he realized that successful communities don't happen by chance. They are built through shared purpose, meaningful engagement, continuous learning, and authentic leadership. Those experiences became the inspiration behind Thriving Communities—a platform created to capture the knowledge, challenges, successes, and lessons of community builders from around the world.
